Programming Week - What Do We Do?
Analysing Information: Once we receive returned questionnaires from service users, parents/carers and staff, we can then draw up the weekly plan for each service and this is then organised within the 'Week to View' Grid.
The Grid: This is a chart that is split off in to service user names, days or the weekly/allocated staff No's/vehicles allocated for the service etc... We use the information from the results page of the questionnaires plus we need to ensure a balance of communication, social skills and imagination programmes.
Annual Assessments & Individual Learning Plan's: All service users have an annual assessment (skills based assessment) that has been completed by the Key-worker and an Assistant Psychologist. Each assessment has up to five SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic & Times) Goals for the year. This coupled with the long and short-term goals in the questionnaire are used to compile the service user's Individual Learning Plan (ILP) for either April-Sep or Sep-April. These SMART Goals and Targets are then taken through to the service user's Individual Programme Plan for the week.
Programme Packs: All programme packs have a set format in order to
ensure continuity of care and uniformity of paperwork.
All our programmes have a scheme of work (April-Sep/Sep-April), lesson plans and
an outline of how to run the programme, as well as programme evaluation sheets
(staff and service users), work planners, risk assessments, transition plans,
TEACCH information and set-ups, resources and alternative activity packs.
Programmes are also evaluated by the staff running the session and the service
user.
This will then be monitored and reviewed frequently in accordance with the views
of the service user, parent and key staff representatives.
Other bits... Time is then spent drawing together all the resources for the programmes, writing up the schedule for the week - ensuring everything goes to plan and is correctly grouped and staffed etc...
Also we spend a lot of time...
