Festive Events
Parties, fun and music were part of the programme for the last couple of weeks before the festive break. The activities were structured over a two week period and service users had a pictorial timetable informing them of the events that they could take part in. Events included meals out, seeing the Christmas lights, helping put up decorations, and making festive cards and gifts to take home... A great time was had by service users and staff.
ASDAN Update
2006 was a good year for ASDAN, the certified courses we run in the services (packs include cookery, self-advocacy, travel training etc...)
We managed to get seven service users, across the services, successfully through the moderation process, and we will be holding an award ceremony at Mansfield Place during February for all those service users that completed their award.
Well done to all service users for their hard work and staff for putting together the portfolio of work...
Happy Birthday Jane!
In April 2006, Coney Hall had a visit from the president of the National Autistic Society, actress and business-woman Jane Asher.
She was presented with cards and artwork to celebrate her recent 60th birthday, at a buffet lunch, with a group of Croydon Service staff and service users.
The event was also attended by Chirf Executive of the N.A.S. Vernon Beauchamp.
And Finally...
Carpets: We had new carpets fitted at Coney Hall and Transitions over the Christmas break.
New staff: We welcomed Nuala and Stella as programme support workers across the services.
Other info: Emma, our programme support worker has taken up a four month secondment as Assistant Psychologist at Croydon to cover Hanne.
Katie will remain a Deputy Manager across the day services for a further four months.
